Case Study
How AI Powered Dahlia became the embedded digital backbone of PAWSIC, building every layer of their online presence from the ground up while the organization scaled from a startup to a national force in wound care and skin health education.
PAWSIC is the Post-Acute Wound and Skin Integrity Council, a nonprofit healthcare association built to advance wound care and skin health education across post-acute care settings. When they started working with AI Powered Dahlia, they had a mission, a growing community of clinicians, and almost no digital infrastructure to support either.
The organization was run entirely by volunteers, many of them senior clinicians with full-time jobs. The digital work that needed to happen, including the website, membership platform, content strategy, conference materials, analytics, and email communications, was falling through the cracks or being done manually by people who didn't have time for it.
They didn't need a social media agency. They needed a digital director who understood both the strategic and technical sides, could work directly with leadership, and would show up consistently without the overhead of a full-time hire.
Website from scratch. The old PAWSIC website wasn't converting. We rebuilt PAWSIC.org entirely: modern design, clear membership calls to action, a proper blog for SEO, a sponsorship page that reflected the organization's credibility, and a performance-optimized architecture built for speed and reliability. The new site launched in April 2026 and immediately drove measurable membership growth at their next major conference.
Membership platform. We designed and configured a full membership system with tiered access (Free, Premium Monthly, Premium Annual), payment processing, member onboarding email sequences, and automated list management. Over time we ran a complete data audit and cleanup that reconciled membership records and brought the active count to an accurate 609.
Content strategy and analytics. Every month we deliver platform-by-platform analytics across all active social and email channels. Beyond the numbers, we tell PAWSIC's leadership what the data means and what to do next. Content strategy spans the 12-month content calendar, health awareness day posts, SEO-optimized blog articles, and a digital package for conferences that drives booth traffic and membership sign-ups.
Conference digital packages. For each major conference (SAWC, LeadingAge, NADONA), we create digital flyers, QR codes, rack cards, and booth materials that match the site's modern brand and funnel attendees into the membership system. SAWC Spring 2026 produced 23 new members, nearly double the 13 from the prior year, directly attributable to the new website and conference materials.
Sponsorship infrastructure. We built a sponsors page and a private sponsor portal, designed updated sponsorship decks to reflect quarterly deliverables and new tiers, and connected sponsor commitments to the newsletter and content calendar so sponsors actually see their promised exposure.
Key Result
PAWSIC now operates with a full digital infrastructure that a volunteer-run association could not have maintained manually. Every layer, from the public-facing website to the membership backend to the conference collateral to the monthly analytics, runs consistently without the board having to chase it down.
This isn't a vendor relationship. We attend PAWSIC Executive Committee and board meetings as part of the digital team. We're in the room when strategic decisions are made about partnerships, conferences, membership pricing, and new initiatives, which means the digital work is always aligned with what the organization is actually doing, not just responding to it after the fact.
When PAWSIC evaluated major strategic decisions around partnerships and organizational direction, we understood the digital implications immediately because we had been in every meeting leading up to those decisions.
That depth of context is what makes this model different from hiring an agency to execute a brief.
Bottom Line
For nonprofits and healthcare associations that are growing faster than their volunteer capacity, the fractional digital director model gives you senior-level digital strategy and execution without the cost or complexity of a full-time hire. PAWSIC went from patching things together to having a complete digital operation that runs every month without a second thought.
